International Yoga Day 2019

The United Nations recognized June 21 as International Yoga Day to raise awareness worldwide of the many benefits of practicing yoga. Yoga is an ancient physical, mental and spiritual practice which originated in India around 6,000 years ago. The name yoga derives from Sanskrit and means to join or unite, symbolizing the union of body and consciousness.

Beautiful sunset and Caribbean breezes enhanced an already perfect afternoon with the largest attendance so far. We are grateful to everyone that attended this free event to participate in the the union of body and spirit. Three teachers conducted classes featuring three different yoga styles. Many chairs were available fo chair yoga for people that could not do regular yoga. Anyone can do it, even sitting down. Breathing exercises (pranayama) are one of the most important faces of yoga.

Later, participants were serenaded with Kirtan* by Ada Rivera and friends.
